Sending your child off to college is a moment filled with pride, excitement…and often, white-knuckled anxiety. As parents, we want to protect, guide, and support our kids, even as they step into independence. One of the most powerful ways to do that – is through prayer.
Whether your student is leaving home for the first time or commuting nearby, their first year of college is filled with new experiences and challenges. As you navigate this season, let this prayer center your heart and bring peace.
Prayer for a College-Bound Child:
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of my child and for guiding them to this new season. As they begin their first year of college, I entrust them fully into Your care.
Protect them in every way—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Give them wisdom in their studies, courage in new friendships, and discernment in every decision.
When they feel overwhelmed, remind them they are never alone. Surround them with mentors, friends, and a deep sense of Your presence.
And for me, Lord, grant peace as I let go. Teach me to trust You more each day.
