The Christmas season doesn’t always require big plans or grand gestures. Sometimes, the most meaningful reminders of the season show up right at your front door.
This year, we’ve been getting a little closer to our neighbors. Just a couple of days ago, that connection turned into something special when we heard a knock on the door. Five houses down lives a couple and their 5-year-old daughter, Olivia. Olivia is what you might call Little Miss Social, and she had a mission.
She wanted to bake and decorate homemade gingerbread cookies for everyone in the neighborhood. To be clear, her mom and dad helped—so the cookies weren’t all covered in 365° sprinkles. Olivia went door to door, proudly delivering her cookies and Christmas cheer.
It was the sweetest, simplest gift we’ve received in a long time. And honestly, it will probably be the best gift we get this Christmas.
Moments like that are a reminder that giving back doesn’t have to be complicated. A small act—done with joy and intention—can bring neighbors together and reflect faith values far more powerfully than anything store-bought.
