It is said that moving can be one of the most stressful and hectic times of life. At United Faith Mortgage, we’d like to try to make your move a simple one; or as simple as it can possibly be. We’ve attached our Moving Checklist in an effort to help alleviate some stress for you and your family.

It’s happened, you’ve found the perfect house, went through the pre-qualification process, obtained a mortgage, signed on the dotted line, and you are finally moving!

Now the real fun begins…Moving! Whatever state you are located in, whether it Ohio, South Carolina, Colorado or Kentucky, etc…you need a plan, and here’s our moving checklist to assist you.
4 WEEKS PRIOR TO MOVE:
o Set up a “move” file or folder
o Set up a “move” calendar
o Have a garage sale
o Donate un-needed furniture to charity
o Contact insurance company to transfer policies (life/auto/homeowners)
o Contact doctors, dentists for copies of medical records
o Contact schools for copies of student records
o Collect financial, tax and employment documentation needed for your loan

3 WEEKS PRIOR TO MOVE:

o Review tax deductions on moving expenses
o Arrange cut-off date for utility companies
(telephone/gas/electricity/water/garbage/cable television)
o Call friends and relatives to let them know about the big move
o Request change of address kit from post office
o Check out voter registration information for the new area
2 WEEKS PRIOR TO MOVE:

o Transfer stocks, bonds, bank accounts and contents of safe deposit boxes
o Prepare a list of clothing that will not be packed with household goods
o Take time to check off previous listed items while you still have time!

1 WEEK PRIOR TO MOVE:

o Label items you will need to access easily and place them in separate room or closet.
o Clean out your refrigerator and let it air out at least 24 hours before moving
o Drain outdoor equipment: Water hoses/propane tank from BBQ grill/gas and oil from lawnmowers and/or snow blowers
o Discard all aerosols, paint, oils and other flammable or toxic chemicals
o Schedule with utility companies to have utilities turned on at your new home

MOVING OUT DAY:

o Relax!!!
o Remember, items packed last will be unloaded first
o Conduct a final review of the house, including attic, stairwells, closets, cupboards, storage, garage and behind doors

MOVING IN DAY:

o Have the house ready for delivery prior to the truck’s arrival
o Take a break, sit back, relax and…ENJOY YOUR NEW HOME!
