October sure felt like it snuck up on us this year! With all of the changes and challenges of 2020, changing of months and seasons seem too far off of our radar. But fall is a great season for family activities, many of which can still be done outdoors, distances and healthy. Here’s a few of our favorite fall activities for you to create your own fall activity bucket list and make wonderful family memories that take your mind off of the challenges of life.
- Find and try as many “pumpkin spice” foods as you can. There’s obviously the Pumpkin Spice latte, but it seems like every coffee shop, bakery, grocery store and gas station has a pumpkin spice offering. Have some fun…find as many as you can and try them all!
- Get lost in a Corn Maze. Nothing says social distancing like getting lost in acres of corn. Just search your local area for corn mazes and I’ll bet you’ll find more than one in your area.
- Go apple picking. Got an apple orchard near you? Apple picking is a great outdoor activity for the family, young and old. And with all those apples, you can try your hand at making cider, applesauce, pie, apple crisp…ideas are endless!
- Take a hayride. Many places that have corn mazes or do apple picking also offer hayrides. If you grew up in the city like I did, I had never done a hayride until college. Didn’t know what I was missing! If you find the right location, you can do a maze, hayride, apple picking and maybe get some pumpkins and other fall décor.
- Tailgating at your local high school football game. Support your local high school…grab some snacks, chairs and blankets and meet up with some neighbors to cheer on your team. If your school allows it, get tickets to the game. If you can’t, see if the game is on the local radio and listen in the parking lot and spend time with friends.
- Find a Drive-In Movie Theater. Missing movie theaters? How about seeing if you have a local drive in? Many are reopening and showing movies, concerts and other entertainment events as a way to get out and still keep your distance.
- Bike Ride to see the changing leaves. You’ll need to dress appropriately, but jump on your bikes and head to a local wooded bike trail. See the greens, yellows, oranges and reds, smell the changing of the season and end the night with a bonfire. Get all the senses involved in welcoming Fall.
Enjoy the changing of the season. And if your mortgage needs are coming into a new season, we’d love to explore that with you, as well. Happy Fall, y’all!
