It’s finally football season and football families are figuring out the best way to watch. And many families have turned to…the garage! While some man caves are in the basement, some have turned their garage into sports viewing central, and here’s a few ideas on how to make your garage the newest sports bar.
- Set-up and Clean-up – You probably have or can afford some decent folding chairs or camp chairs. TV trays or a card or folding table. If so, you have the basic starter furniture you need. You can even move in some deck/patio furniture, which is usually light and fairly comfortable. There’s your living room. If there’s spills, it’s a garage floor! No ruined or stained carpet. No stain treating or shampooing during the game. Just get an old towel and wipe it up. Snacks and crumbs can be shop vac-ed or swept out and clean up is done, and you can pull the cars back in.
- Viewing – To watch the game, you’ll need a TV. We’d recommend the biggest TV possible. You’re welcome.
- Upgrades – if you like your new experience, you can consider many upgrades to make the garage a little better every year. Here’s a couple ideas.
- Garage floor coating – there’s some cost here, but it is very durable and adds a layer of class to the area, making it feel like another room in the house.
- Furniture – if you have room to store it, you can get some good indoor/outdoor furniture, or upgrade your patio set that can be used in the garage in the fall.
- Sound – if you want that stadium sound, this is a great time to add a sound bar or even an amp and surround sound system, which also can be secured used from many online marketplaces.
- TV – watch for Black Friday deals, or big sales that happen throughout the year, and you may score an amazing TV for a great price! Or you can upgrade your inside TV and move the old but still solid TV to the garage.
