When do you call a mortgage lender?  You’ve decided you’re going to buy a house – then what?  If you’ve never done it before, it can seem up in the air on when to call a mortgage lender and start the actual “process” beyond the idea that you’re moving.

WHEN TO CALL:

Maybe you’re thinking of looking around a little before you call a mortgage lender.  You could, but in the landscape today, most realtors make time for serious buyers first.  What makes you look like a serious buyer to a realtor?  They’ll want to see a pre-qualification letter.  What’s nice is, this is easy to get, and you can always switch lenders, so there’s no reason you shouldn’t apply.  A pre-qualification shows the realtor you can afford what you’re looking for – and helps you know how to budget!

KNOW YOUR BUDGET:

While a pre-qualification letter will help you know what you can qualify for in a mortgage, it’s not a guarantee.  Before you call, you should sit down and think about you budget for a home – what are your goals for a mortgage payment?  We love when people tell us their goals, because we’re always up to whatever challenge if it means getting you and your family into the perfect home.
